Lioness 'Mauj' gives birth to twin cubs

RAJKOT: Lioness 'Mauj' in Pradyuman Park Zoo of Rajkot on Saturday morning gave birth to twin cubs.
Mauj, who was born in Rajkot zoo, mated with lion 'Arjun,' who was brought from Hyderabad zoo.
The zoo officials said that they could not ascertain the sex of the twins as the lioness did not allow them near her cubs.
Zoo superintendent Dr R K Hirpara said that Mauj has so far given birth to 12 cubs.With these twin cubs, the number of lion and lionesses in Rajkot zoo has increased to 38. "We will get to know which one of the twins is male and which one is female after Mauj allows us to go near them," he said.
