MUMBAI: An injured tempo driver drove to a police station in Govandi on Friday and called out to cops for help before collapsing. He was taken to Rajawadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons.
The deceased, Moinuddin Shaikh (22), was a Govandi resident and had begun workas a driver two months ago.
When the victim reached the police station, cops saw that his throat had been slit.
“Despite such a deep injury, he managed to drive to the police station,” said an officer. Shaikh left home for work on Friday morning. After completing his last assignment in Ghatkopar, he dropped off the cleaner and was heading home, the police said. “It is likely that he gave someone a lift on the way and may have got into an argument with that person, which led to the attack,” said an officer.
Shaikh’s family told cops that he had fought with a local a month ago and had lodged a case of ‘attempt to commit murder’ against that resident. Since then, the local had been urging him to withdraw the case.
