68-year-old widow raped by her son in Jabalpur district
The incident was reported in Gangai village — 35 kms from district headquarters, but police did not reveal the name of the 40-year-old accused to protect the identity of survivor in the incestuous rape.
BHOPAL: A 68-year-old widow was raped by her son in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
The woman, mother of three children, approached police with a village Kotwar on Friday morning, and alleged her son beat her up before raping her.
The incident was reported in Gangai village — 35 kms from district headquarters, but police did not reveal the name of the 40-year-old accused to protect the identity of survivor in the incestuous rape.
"Accused is a father of three and is mentally stable. Prima facie there is no reason to consider him otherwise," said Lokendra Singh, station house officer of Chargavan police station.
Her eldest son came home at 5 pm on Thursday and asked for water. When she went towards the kitchen, he overpowered and raped her.
According to the police report, the mother "tried to run away, but he held her down until he was finished. He left the house threatening her of dire consequences on reporting the matter to anyone."
"We will arrest him soon. He has gone to his relatives place after the crime," said the SHO.

The woman was living alone in her house since her husband committed suicide. Her children — a daughter and two sons — were living in another house located in the same area.
