ALLAHABAD: Heavy rains made life happier for schoolchildren. Many of them were seen indulging in playful acts in knee-deep water. Youngsters too zipped away in waterlogged streets splashing the water on passers by. In fact, the young generation took to road in large numbers to enjoy the first heavy rain of monsoon.
Be it the posh Civil Lines or roads of various localities, youngsters made the best use of waterlogged roads and soothing weather.
They raced against each other in knee-deep water, and indulged in a game of football in water-filled playgrounds. Mechanics and slum children made fast bucks under the downpour. The kids earned money by pulling two-wheelers out of the waterlogged roads and to the mechanics to remove the snag.
Apart from them, all other denizens were struggling to cope up with problems arising out of the downpour. "Itni pareshani hai ki hum kya batain, aap kudh hi delk len (Problems are plenty to explain. You see for yourself)," said a family residing in Sobatiyabagh. Choked drains had led to severe waterlogging in the area. Similar situation prevailed in other localities forcing people to keep indoors. Only those who owned a four-wheeler dared to venture out.
Owing to the pleasant weather and incessant rains, roadside vendors selling corn, tea, snacks, chat etc did brisk business as many families took to road to enjoy the weather.
