Rushmi Chakravarthi opens tennis academy

Rushmi Chakravarthi, former National tennis champion inaugurated her new centre — Precision Tennis Academy — at the D.G. Vaishnav College courts here on Saturday, by hitting a few balls with the chief guest, M.A. Alagappan, President, Tamil Nadu Tennis Association.

“It's always been a dream to open an academy for tennis players and now it's become come true. I'd like to thank the D.G. Vaishnav College management for their guidance and encouragement, family, friends and well-wishers for their support,” said Rushmi, who is the chief coach and founder of the academy. Alagappan said that Rushmi would teach the finer points of the game to the trainees and urge them “to be a winner.”

Karti P Chidambaram, vice-president, Tamil Nadu Tennis Association, said Rushmi will be a “guiding force” for the academy and to take Tamil Nadu tennis forward.

Tennis classes, a press release, said, will commence by the end of this month and will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days a week.

Dr. S. Narasimhan, Principal, D.G. Vaishnav College, gave the welcome address.
