Himachal to relax norms for industrial clearances: CM Virbhadra Singh
SHIMLA: With a view to make Himachal Pradesh an ideal investment destination and to provide business-friendly environment to entrepreneurs, the state government plans to relax norms under section 118 to facilitate setting up of industries.
During an interaction with Industries Association of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) late Thursday evening, chief minister Virbhadra Singh said that the state government was committed to simplify the procedure for section 118 clearances for purchase of land to set up industries in the state, besides offering various other incentives to businessmen.

In cases of old industries or where entrepreneurs want to purchase or to sell land to pave way for another unit to come up or want to leave, the government will see that the process of transfer or sale from one company to another does not get hampered and will try to relax the norms and make a policy in this regard, he said.
Ever since the opening of industrial estate at Chambaghat in Solan district, industries have expanded gradually to Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh and Kala-Amb. The government is now keen to develop Una and Kangra districts as new industrial belts in the state, the CM said.
Virbhadra Singh said that a notification to increase the floor area ratio has been issued, besides a notification reducing the charges for change of land use. The government would take necessary steps to strengthen Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority (BBNDA) so as to provide more autonomy, accountability and authority to it, he said.
The proposal to connect Baddi-Barotiwala with a rail link from Kalka to Baddi via Chandimandir was in the final stages and the state government was pursuing the same, he said, adding, "I am informed that the survey has been completed and alignment of tracks has also been finalized."
