The Salvation Army is collecting donations to help the people forced from their homes in last weekend’s fire on D’Ambrosio Drive in Barrie.

The agency is asking for financial assistance to help the 28 families displaced by the fire.

Thirteen families are still currently living in motels while the rest have been placed in non-profit housing.

Residents who lived on the second floor of the building are expected to be out of their homes for four to six months. Third floor residents will be out of their homes for about six weeks and there’s been no decision when first floor residents will be able to return.

Donations to help the families can be made out to the ‘Salvation Army, D’Ambrosio Tenant Relief Fund.’
