'Govt not interested in agriculture'
CHANDIGARH: Congress leader and Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh alleged that the SAD government had lost interest in agriculture, which was reflected in the budget.
Speaking on behalf of his party in the Punjab assembly on agriculture, Rana told deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, "Since now you have other business interests, you are not much bothered about agriculture", he referred to the maize, sugar-cane and basmati growers' problems.

He said, despite the central government having fixed the MSP for maize at Rs 1,300 per quintal, they were going for distress sale for as low as Rs 1,000 per quintal. He asked the government to compensate the maize growers and make up for their losses.
