Cyberabad cops launch data centre

Cops will store data regarding burglars, chain snatchers and history-sheeters

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police commissioner has opened a new unit named the Central Criminal Data Collection Centre (CCD-CC) for storing data regarding burglars, chain snatchers and those who commit serious crimes. The centre will store their interrogation reports, photographs and fingerprints. The data will be disseminated to all police stations in Cyberabad and Hyderabad.

The CCDC will operate from the commissioner’s office and will store data regarding arrested criminals including those who have non-bailable warrants pending against them. Once they are arrested they will be brought to the commissione’s office and details like DNA, fingerprint, permanent residential address, details about family, relatives and identity proofs like Aadhaar card will be collected.

Cyberabad police officials said that from now on all details about arrested criminals will be shared with their counterparts in Hyderabad. Cops will also verify addresses of those arrested before producing them in court. “If the verification of address and other details are not possible in custody, it can be done using Google maps and the map will be recorded in the new unit for future tracking, Cyberabad additional DCP (crimes) G. Janaki Sharmila said.
