Shimla: Most parts of Himachal Pradesh witnessed moderate to heavy rains on the third day running which led to landslides at several places in the state.
The excessive rains during the past three days triggered landslides at numerous places throwing normal life out of gear in interior areas, where roads were rendered blocked.
All major rivers and their tributaries are in spate and flowing above the danger mark and the district administrations have asked people along the river banks to take adequate precautions.
Shimla and Sirmaur districts had widespread intermittent rains while light rains occurred at isolated places in the state causing marginal fall in maximum day temperature.
Sangrah in Sirmaur district was wettest with 92 mm rains while Dharampur and Kasauli in Solan district had 68 mm and 61 mm rains.
Shimla, Rohroo and Kumarsain had 53 mm rains while Solan and Nauni had 48 mm and 43 mm of rains, followed by Kandaghat, Rajgarh and Annu 41 mm each. Bijahi got 37mm, Dalhousie 36 mm Dharamsala 28 mm and Kangra 21 mm rains.
Director local Meteorological office Manmohan Singh said the monsoon would be less intense over the next five days and light to moderate rains would occur at many places in low, mid and higher hills.
The rain deficiency in HP has come down to 35 per cent from 43 per cent.
However, lower hills reeled under sultry heat as mercury rose by a few notches. Una recorded a high of?33.4 degree Celsius against 27.0 degree yesterday while Sundernagar and Dharamsla recorded maximum temperature at 27.7 degree.
Bhuntar 25.8 degree, Nahan 24.4 degree, Solan 23.0 degree, Manali 21.0 degree, Shimla??20.4 degree and Kalpa 17.4 degree.
There was no significant change in minimum temperatures and Bharmour in tribal belt was the coldest with a low of minimum 12.1 degree while Keylong, Manali and Kalpa recorded a minimum of 12.5 degree, 12.5 degree and 13.4 degree respectively.
Shimla and Nahan registered minimum temperature at 15.8 degree and 16.8 degree while Bhuntar, Dharamsala and Palampur recorded minimum temperature at 19.1 degree followed by Solan 19.4 degree, Sundernagar 21.1 degree and una 21.5 degree C.
Sky remaind heavily overcast and thick fog engulfed Shimla and its adjoining areas.
