Jaipur: Opposition Congress today staged a walkout from the House after the Speaker refused to allow its members to hold a discussion on the alleged rise in crimes against women in the state.

The members alleged that law and order situation in the state was deteriorating since the BJP came to power in Rajasthan eight months ago. During the Zero Hour as Congress Whip, Govind Singh Dotasara raised the alleged rising incidents of rape and crime against women, including one in Alwar, where a BJP minister's son was allegedly involved early this week, the Speaker Kailash Meghwal objected to it and ordered that nothing would be recorded and whatever he (whip) said, would be expunged.

After the Speaker's ruling, Leader of the Opposition Rameshwar Dudi stood up to speak on the matter but the Speaker did not allow him too, saying the matter was not for any debate in the House. Hence, no one would be allowed to speak anything on this issue, and any law and order issue could be raised during Home Department's grant, the Speaker said.

Parliamentary Minister R S Rathor also quoted a business rules rejecting Opposition Congress demand to speak on the matter which the Speaker accepted. "If we are not heard and our statements are not recorded, we stage walkout", Dudi said while taking his flock of MLAs outside the assembly.

As the Speaker asked an Independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal and NPP MLA, K L Meena to sit so as to avoid any confusion, the duo also walked out after the Congress' boycott. Since yesterday's sitting, the Speaker has ordered that Beniwal's speech would not be recorded and whatever he said was due to his routine practice of getting up, and raising irrelevant issues without permission.

On another matter of grant to "goshala" of Pachmera city, a Congress MLA Sukhram Vishnoi protested and held a sit in on the floor of the house for over ten minutes. He was later taken to his seat by the Congress members when Speaker began regular business of debate on CM's budget speech.
