Romani fashion show at Fine Arts Museum
Romani Design using traditional Roma motifs with a modern feel presented its latest collection in the Museum of Fine Arts this Monday. Organizers said the exhibition was inspired by the notions of freedom, courage and self-identity.
“My relationship with fashion is like the relationship of a writer and words or a painter and colors. All the clothes I make represent me and the world where I joyfully live” said designer Erika Varga, the creator of the exhibition. The exhibition of her clothing was entitled "My Identity – My Freedom".
Romani Design was established in 2010 to introduce traditional Roma clothing to the world of contemporary fashion. The last four years has seen a rising popularity in the clothes, accompanied by a rising consciousness of the importance of being open and tolerant, according to a press release from organizers.
The exhibition was founded by “Európai Unió Magyarország - Szlovákia Határon Átnyúló Együttműködési Program 2007- 2013”.
