Jyoti murder case: Five defence witnesses depose

Two neighbours of accused Dharampal, relative of prime accused, told the court that Panchkula police never came to the house.

Five defence witnesses on Thursday deposed before the court in Jyoti murder case. The case is being heard by a special court dealing with cases of crime against women.

Two neighbours of accused Dharampal (relative of prime accused Ram Kumar Chaudhary), both having the same name —Gurcharan, told the court that Panchkula police never came to the house of accused Dharampal in their presence. They added that no mobile, allegedly used in the crime, was recovered from Dharampal’s house in their presence.

Witness Kirna Devi, wife of accused Dharampal, told the court that no recovery of a mobile phone allegedly used in the crime was made from her house by the police. She further stated that the police did not come to her house on January 18, 2013 (as stated by the police) or on any other day for making any recovery. She also told the court that the site map of her house as shown by the police in court is concocted and that the architecture of her bedroom is different from what is shown in the site map by the police.

Witness Ram Lal, a Baddi based photographer, told the court he had taken two photographs of Kirna Devi’s room wherein the architecture of her bedroom was different from what the police had shown in the site map.

Witness Praveen Aggarwal, Chaudhary’s friend, said that he had called on Chaudhary’s mobile phone on the day of crime and that Satpal, Chaudhary’s driver, received and said that Chaudhary was busy.
