VADODARA: Two students from the city shared All India Rank (AIR) at ninth position as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) declared results of common proficiency test (CPT) on Wednesday.
Param Doshi and Dolly Patel not only stood first in the city but also emerged as all India rankers with their names making it to top 10 rankers in the country.
Interestingly, while Doshi is following his father's footsteps to become a chartered accountant (CA), Patel wants to become the first CA in her family.

"I had expected to emerge as a top ranker in Vadodara but had not expected to top across the country. This result is off course a pleasant surprise for me," said Patel, daughter of city-based dental surgeon father Dr Mukund Patel and Ila Patel, a home maker.
"Now, I will be making all efforts to score better in the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) - the next step towards becoming the first CA in my family," said Patel, who after completing her schooling from Baroda High School, Alkapuri has now taken admission at M S University's Faculty of Commerce.
Unlike Patel, scoring 189 out of 200, was a disappointment for Doshi. "I had expected my score to be much higher. But bagging an AIR in top ten is also a big achievement. My parents and tutors have made this possible for me," said Doshi, whose father Pramesh is also a CA while mother
Alka works as a travel agent after completing her bachelors in physics.
"I am looking forward and preparing for IPCC which will be held in May 2015," said Doshi, who after completing his HSc with 99.88 percentile and 88.8 percentage from Vidyani Vidyalaya has joined MSU to complete BCom studies.
"The overall result of Vadodara city too has improved this year," Yash Bhatt, chairman of students association and vice-chairman of Baroda branch of Western India Regional Council of ICAI told TOI. "Last year, city's overall result in CPT was 17 percent which this year has improved to 28 percent. In all, 240 students out of 831 students who had appeared in CPT have passed the test."
