ALLAHABAD: District police on Thursday claimed to have worked out the Rinku Nishad murder case with the arrest of one of the prime accused, Vipul, a resident of Georgetown near Medical College crossing, when he was planning to escape from city.
Police said two youths — Vipul and Ashish — were named in the FIR lodged with Georgetown police station regarding the killing of Rinku Nishad.
The victim, who was the nephew of a senior leader of Rastriya Apna Dal, was allegedly shot dead by a group of miscreants over a petty issue on July 12.
Police said Rinku was shot dead at point blank range when he had raised objections against miscreants consuming liquor near party office.
Following the killing of Rinku, his family members and supporters had indulged in arson and violence demanding strict action against the culprits.
Police said, "We are looking for the another accused who is on the run."
Station officer, Georgetown, told TOI: "A police team has been set up to arrest Ashish and Gaurav wanted in this murder case."
Following Nishad's murder, his relatives and supporters had created ruckus in the area. They had placed the body on the road and blocked the traffic demanding immediate arrest of the killers. They were later pacified by the senior officials who had reached the spot.
