In February this year, it was rumored that British songstress Adele is collaborating with pop legend Prince for a track that will be included in her next album, The Daily Mail said. However, the rumor was later denied by Prince's rep.

Before this bit of news came out, Phil Collins had previously revealed that he's started to work with her on her third album. "I've just started to work with Adele. She contacted me to write together," the musician was quoted as saying.

Later, on her birthday in May, she seemed to post a "cryptic message" on Twitter by typing "see you again later in the year." Speculators have taken this to imply that her much-awaited follow up to her hugely successful "21" album may be released later this year.

And now, it appears the rumors and speculations may indeed become reality, if that tweet from the World Music Awards is to be believed.

"#adele confirms 2015 Tour After The Release Of Her New Album '25'!" read the tweet, according to Billboard.

Woah! That's exciting news!

"But not so fast," cautioned the music industry news source. "Aside from her initial '25' tease on Twitter, Adele has confirmed nothing of the sort."

"Chairman Martin Mills of Beggars Group, the parent company to Adele's XL Recordings, tells Billboard there is no truth in this,'" the site added.

Cue disappointed sighs from fans all around the globe. The confusing post has since been removed from the World Music Award's Twitter account.

Why the hoax announcement, then? No one is sure, but Billboard offered something that we can all chew on.

"Why the World Music Awards would enter into Adele's story is unclear. The annual Monte Carlo-based ceremony is something of a curiosity on the international awards calendar," the site explained. "The broadcast of this year's May 27 show was supposed to air live on NBC, but the feed was postponed at the last minute with organizers blaming "'technical issues.'"

"In 2006, the awards relocated for a one-off show in London. After a horror-run of mix-ups, one British tabloid coined the event the 'Worst Music Awards,'" Billboard observed.

"The British megastar has yet to publicly discuss or confirm the news of her third studio album or the buzz surrounding a possible tour," Hollywood Life noted.

Despite this, when Adele's third album drops, it will sure to be one of the biggest album releases of the year, thanks to her blockbuster album sales track record.

"That album sold 3 million copies through digital streaming alone, which set a record. Altogether, it's sold more than 10 million copies and topped Billboard's year-end sales list in both 2011 and 2012 -- the first album ever to do that," CNN said of "21."
