Finalists in the 2014 Miss World Fiji pageant will have to work hard to prove themselves since there will be an international modelling scout from the United States as the chief judge at this year’s contest.
Director of One Model Management in New York, Lanny Zenga, has been confirmed by Miss World Fiji to be judging the competition.
Miss World Fiji National Director, Andhy Blake said Mr Zenga, who was based in New York, travels the World to scout models. He has represented supermodels such as Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer.
“Mr Zenga will team up with a panel of local judges on July 23 to select Miss Fiji 2014 at the private judging,” Mr Blake said.
Mr Blake also said they had decided to bring in the top international model scout following the successful signing of local model, Philippa Steele, to Trump Model Management in the US last year.
“This is to give another local model a break while at the same time selecting our best representative to the Miss World finals,” Mr Blake said.
He said the judging and selection of Miss Fiji would be private and there would be no public influence.
“The finalists are judged in a private interview with the judges, swimsuit and evening gown before a final deliberation consisting of the eight weeks performance by each contestant,” Mr Blake said. He said the judging was modelled to that of the international Miss World contest where all decisions are made to strict but private conditions.
The winner of Miss Fiji will contest the Miss World finals in London on December 14.
