Go.Ru.Channabasappa to be felicitated

A commemoration stamp will be released on the occasion and a documentary on Mr. Channabasappa will be screened

Senior writer and president of the Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat, Go.Ru.Channabasappa, will be felicitated on his 85th birthday on Sunday at the Ravindra Kalakhetra here.

Cultural treat

The Go.Ru.Cha. felicitation committee has chalked out a variety of programmes to mark the event, including a seminar on the author’s contribution towards various fields. A souvenir would also be released on the occasion.

Honorary president of the committee and former Minister, B.L. Shankar told presspersons here on Thursday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate programme. Former Chief Minister and MP B.S.Yeddyurappa will preside.

Union Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda will release a commemoration stamp and a book edited by Go.Ru. Parameshwarappa. Six books brought out on Channabasappa will also be released.

Music

Folksongs by Bananduru Kempaiah, Hindustani music by Sneha Hampiholis, staging of the play ‘Shivaratri’ by the Prayogaranga theatre troupe, and screening of a documentary on Mr. Channabasappa are the other programmes scheduled for the day.

Mr. Shankar said that Mr. Chanbasappa, who has been president of ABSSP for the past two decades, will donate money to the Parishat’s literary project.
