Deblina Chatterjee to play Gauri in Balika Vadhu

Jagya of Balika Vadhu will soon have to face his past as his second wife, Gauri is making a comeback after a considerable time. However, it’s not actor Anjum Farooki who would be essaying the role, but actor Deblina Chatterjee, who was last seen in Star Plus’ Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein.
The actor is happy to have bagged the role and is not bothered that she is a replacement for Farooki. “Balika Vadhu is one of the most watched shows on television. It is liked by TV viewers and has been consistent all through these years. As an actor, I am happy to be a part of the project,” says Chatterjee.
For the actor it isn’t an issue that the show has a rural backdrop as the audiences are wanting to see something different these days. “The taste of audiences may be evolving but something like a Balika Vadhu has clicked well, while a show like Sajda...that had a modern take didn’t. You can never say what works. Besides, if one wants to improve as an actor, one should be ready to work in new projects,” she concludes in a matter-of-fact tone.
