YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday hinted that State-wide agitations would be taken up with farmers within a month as Chandrababu Naidu government failed to implement its election promise of loan waiver with a tune of Rs.1.02 lakh crore. He alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to dupe people saying that about the poor financial condition of the State.
Mr.Jagan consoled families of victims who were killed in building and wall collapse incidents in Tamil Naidu. He visited various villages of Amadalavalasa, Burja, Palakonda, L.N. Peta and other mandals in the district. On the sidelines of the meetings, he interacted with the media contrary to his regular style of functioning and raised doubt over the implementation of loan waiver scheme.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu repeatedly assured that he would ensure waiver of agricultural and DWCRA loans during election meetings. He tried to instil confidence among them saying that he had enough experience in handling the administration and it was not a difficult task to implement loan waiver assurance. But now he is trying to mislead the public by talking about rescheduling loans,” Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said. He said loan reschedule was not a new thing since banks would do so at the time of cyclones and floods. “Even Kirankumar Reddy government could implement it since it was not a big deal,” he added.
Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy has strongly objected reported comments of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and ministers who said that funds collected with the sale of red sanders would be adjusted for loan waiver. “The government may get Rs.1500 with the sale of red sanders. But how it will be sufficient when the government needs Rs.1.02 lakh crore for waiver of all loans?” Mr.Jagan questioned.
Party senior leaders Dharmana Prasada Rao, Tammineni Sitaram, Dharmana Krishnadas, Hanumanthu Kiran, Andhavarapu Suribabu, B. Srinivasa Patnaik and others participated in the meeting. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy will tour Tekkali, Kotabommali and other mandals on Friday to console other family members.
