HYDERABAD: With quite a few Telangana
films going on the floors, Telangana
filmmakers are of the opinion that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC
) regional office should have 50 per cent advisory panel members who understand Telangana
culture and the language well. At least five films by Telangana producers, directors and artistes are in the making as of now.
"It is not just important that Telangana films are being made now. There should be enough advisory panel members in the CBFC who hail from the region to clear the films watching them in the right perspective," said Telangana Film Directors Association president Allani Sridhar. He said the issue of appointing eligible people from Telangana would be taken up with the union Information and broadcasting ministry and also the state government. There is no cinematography minister for Telangana as of now and once a minister is appointed, Telangana filmmakers intend to pursue the matter through him.
Among the Telangana films that are being made is a film titled "Gulabi Dhalapathi". No prizes for guessing who the film is about. It is about Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao who achieved a separate Telangana state and became its chief minister. The film is being produced by Gattu Vijay and directed by Parsa Ramesh Mahendra. KCR's daughter, Nizamabad MP Kavitha launched the teaser of the film recently.
A movie titled "Telangana Vijayam" which is about how Telangana was achieved is being produced by P Janakirama Rao with Bipin as director. The director will also be playing the role of martyr Srikanthachary who had set himself ablaze at LB nagar crossroads for a separate Telangana state. The producer Janakairama Rao said he himself had also participated in the 1969 struggle for a separate Telangana state.
Well-known actor Suman will be playing the lead role in the film "Jayaho Telangana" being produced by K Sathish and directed by M Ravi Kumar. Telangana JAC leader M Kodanda Rao will also be essaying a role in the film. "Bandhook" and "Thurum" are a couple of other Telangana films that are being made.
Telangana filmmakers say this is only the beginning and several more films will be made in the state with only Telangana actors and technicians. However, filmmakers do not feel the need for a separate censor board for the Telangana film industry. The CBFC regional office can issue certificates for both the states. In fact, according to CBFC rules, a film of any language can get a certification from any CBFC office in the country.
