CRPF jawan’s death: CJM orders case against 16 cops

BAHRAICH: A CJM court has ordered police to lodge an FIR against 22 people, including 16 policemen, in connection with the death of a retired CRPF jawan allegedly in police custody in the month of June. Altogether 16 police personnel, including the station officer (SO) of Fakharpur police station, allegedly kidnapped and thrashed a retired CRPF constable in police custody.
The constable later died. While hearing the case, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Bahraich ordered to register the case of murder against 16 police personnel, including the SO and six others on Tuesday. According to reports, Rubab Bano, a resident of Madhavpur village under Fakharpur police station stated in her application submitted at the Bahraich CJM court that her husband Imtiyaz Ali was a retired constable of CRPF. The police had sent her son Bablu to jail on false implications on June 3 following which she went to the Bahraich civil court with her husband for Bablu’s bail on June 6.
When they were returning, the police allegedly kidnapped Imtiyaz and later the cops, including the SO, beat him badly in police custody, alleged Rubab. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted in the district hospital where the doctors referred him to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow where he died during treatment.
Rubab alleged that though she petitioned the Bahraich SP and other officials, but no action was taken. While hearing the case, the CJM court ordered station in-charge Fakharpur to register case against 16 police personnel, including the SO and six others. The accused include SO B K Yadav of Fakharpur police station, S-Is R K Shukla and Ram Prakash, constables Shivkumar Yadav, Dinesh Yadav, Anand Singh, Jaiprakash Shukla, Shailesh Yadav, Surendra Yadav, Ghanshyam Verma, Ajeet Dubey, Omprakash Yadav, Chhotey Lal Nishad,
Kallu Singh, Dharmendra Yadav, Vinay Kumar Yadav along with Arif, Quraisha Begam, Chandbabu, Afsar Hussain, his wife and Munna, all residents of the same village.
