Wives of two Nadia workers abducted in Iraq seek BJP help

She added that 12 days back, someone answered the phone and spoke in Arabic. “My nephew speaks Arabic. He asked the person to hand over the phone to Khokon, but was told that there was no one by that name there,” she said.

After that, the two wives wrote to the gram panchayat, the police station, to the subdivisional officer and the district magistrate, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. They then approached the BJP leaders so that their case was forwarded to the Centre.

“Khokon had sent me money for the last time in April,” Namita said.

Samar last visited his native place in August. He had sent Rs 50,000 in May. The family of the 45-year-old comprises his wife, his 11-year-old son and five-year-old daughter. “When I last spoke to Samar, he did not say anything about being tortured. But, he said he would not be able to communicate anymore as they had been abducted,” said Deepali.

BJP state general secretary Shamik Bhattacharya assured the women of the part’s help .

“The state government has little to do in the matter. They should have promptly contacted the Centre.They have come to us after a month. We will write to Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to intervene and do the needful to bring the Bengal duo back at the earliest,” he said.
