Composer/singer Himesh Reshammiya returns in his objective of becoming a movie star after several poor attempts, doing much better this time round. Based on a true story of the Bollywood 60’s era and the death of a rising starlet,

Himesh plays Ravi Kumar, an arrogant South Indian star who comes to Bombay to star in a Hindi movie for the first time. But his arrogance starts dissipating when he falls for a young actress. He also becomes embroiled in the wheeling and dealing to try to keep every release on top of all others.

Director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, who also plays the part of the director bringing Kumar to Bombay in the film, develops a whodunit when, after a very public catfight between two leading ladies, Chandni (Zoya Afroz) and Zara (Sonali Raut), one of them end up murdered. In the Bohemian society of Indian cinema of the time, there are half a dozen suspects, including a few who are even convinced that they may have accidentally killed her.

Unfortunately, much of the plot is not too convincing, especially when Ravi Kumar’s past experience as a hard-line policeman gets him to find the real killer in an unconventional way, even though Himesh’s acting has improved vastly. His music for the film has also found much acclaim.
