With three big films with Suriya, Vijay and Vikram lined up, Samantha plans to carpet-bomb Kollywood

When a top actress does a film opposite a debutant actor, the industry reacts with shock and surprise. So when Samantha Ruth Prabhu started shooting for Alludu Sreenu, which marks the debut of Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, son of Tollywood’s leading producer Bellamkonda Suresh, industrywallahs thought she was open to ‘experimenting’ by acting in off-beat films or flicks opposite greenhorns. That wasn’t the case.

Recently, two production houses met Samantha for movies opposite new faces, but when she turned them down, it created a furore in Tollywood. In fact, Samantha agreed to be part of Alludu Sreenu only because of Suresh who had produced many of her films. At present, she is busy shooting for Joru (opposite Jr NTR), which is also produced by Suresh.

She is eagerly waiting for the release of her Tamil movie Anjaan in which she is cast alongside Suriya. The movie is directed by well-known film-maker N Lingusamy. She has wrapped up shooting for both Alludu Sreenu and Anjaan.

“Samantha agreed to work with Alludu Sreenu simply because of her long-standing professional relationship with the Bellamkonda banner. That movie is being directed by V V Vinayak, one of the top directors in Telugu. It is a comedy drama made on a budget of Rs 35 crore-plus. It has all the perfect ingredients for a commercial movie. Can other banners with new faces as heroes afford such a set-up?” a top casting director from Hyderabad asked.

Mirror has learnt that the actress has informed her casting agents not to entertain projects featuring new-comers.

Samantha is making a splash in Kollywood with two big releases this year – Anjaan and Kaththi (starring Vijay) directed by hit filmmaker A R Murugadoss. Besides, she is shooting for an untitled Tamil movie, directed by Vijay Milton, where she will romance Vikram.

“She is on the top of Tollywood and now trying to storm Kollywood as well. I think she has taken a wise decision by deciding not to act opposite new faces,” said a trade expert.
