Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday inaugurated the issue of tokens for the ‘visesha sevas’ to be performed during the ‘Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams’ by obtaining a biometric token.
The Minister tested whether the software was foolproof by insisting that he would try again for a second token. But the system rejected, displaying that the individual had already obtained a token.
He later told reporters that he had proposed to TTD officials that the TTD ‘kalyanamantapam’ at MVP Colony be air-conditioned or renovated to make it a venue for conduct of spiritual programmes.
He lauded the efforts of JEO Pola Bhaskar for conducting the ‘Vaibhavotsavams’ for the first time in the city, and said devotees were fortunate that noted scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao would give his discourse and commentary on the sevas.
To enable participation of married couples in the ‘visesha sevas’, 1000 tokens for each of the sevas are being issued on first come, first served basis.
Devotees, either wife or husband, have to fill in a form indicating the preference of the seva and obtain the biometric token. They are photographed while issuing tokens.
