Rewe Dortmund and the spokesman of its management, Heinz-Bert Zander, had imagined a better 100-year anniversary for the cooperation. The average retail floor space of the supermarkets increased to 1,299 square metres. The supermarkets with a retail floor space between 801 and 1,000 square metres had a more difficult time. Their revenue decreased by 0.9 percent on average. The purpose of the future expansion, then, according to the annual report, is to replace smaller supermarkets with bigger ones, while opening extra stores is seen as hardly feasible.
