ATP Claro Open: Home hopes Alejandro Falla and Alejandro Gonzalez progress

Home favourites Alejandro Falla and Alejandro Gonzalez both progressed to the second round of the Claro Open in Bogota on Tuesday night.

Fifth seed Falla made quick work of Tatsuma Ito, defeating the Japanese player 6-3 6-2 in under an hour.

No 6 seed Gonzalez had a tougher time but the home crowd in Colombia were still able to celebrate a 7-5 3-6 6-4 win over Evgeny Donskoy.

Wild card Juan Sebastian Cabal was narrowly unable to join them, however, being defeated 6-3 6-7 (10-12) 7-6 (7-4) ibn a tense contest with Samuel Groth.

Elsewhere, Thiemo de Bakker came from a set down to beat qualifier Kevin King 2-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 and will next face Gonzalez, while Dudi Sela beat Facundo Arguello 6-4 6-2.

British No 3 James Ward will open Wednesday's play on Court One against Australian Matthew Ebden.
