he Bekasi Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) conducted on Monday a revote at polling station 41 in the Pondok Ungu Permai housing complex in North Bekasi due to the alleged manipulation of ballot papers.
Panwaslu head Ismail said the committee had discovered several nails planted upward on a table where a ballot box had been placed.
The committee, he said, was suspicious that someone had purposely set the table in such a way as to damage the ballots. 'We found 30 damaged ballots in the polling station. We suspect that a member of the KPPS [Polling Station Working Committee] at polling station 41 purposely planted the nails on the table to damage the ballots,' Ismail told reporters on Monday.
Meanwhile, local KPPS head Aidil Zami said the nails on the table were a misunderstanding. 'It was all an accident. Besides, the ballots that were damaged were random,' he said.
