Prosecution submits draft charges

The designated judge Vrushali V Joshi has listed the case for arguments and framing of charge on July 31.

Over a month after the Mumbai police Crime Branch filed its chargesheet in the alleged murder and kidnapping of 23-year-old Andhra Pradesh-based techie, the prosecution Tuesday filed draft charges in the case to a sessions court. The designated judge Vrushali V Joshi has listed the case for arguments and framing of charge on July 31.

According to the prosecution, the accused, Chandrabhan Sana, has committed offences that are punishable under sections 302(Murder), 364 (Abduction) ,366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 376 [2] [m] (while committing rape caused grievous bodily harm and endangered her life), 397 (Robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 201(Causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 170 (Personating a public servant), 376 (A) ( while committing rape, inflicting an injury that causes the woman’s death) and 147 of the Railways Act 1989 (Trespass and refusal to desist from trespass) sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Special public prosecutor, Raja Thakre submitted an application requesting a speedy trial. On May 26, the Crime Branch filed a 524-page chargesheet against Sanap.
