Urdu writer Sulekha Hussain died of age-related illness at a private hospital here early on Tuesday morning.She was 84.

KOCHI: Urdu writer Sulekha Hussain died of age-related illness at a private hospital here early on Tuesday morning. She was 84.
Born to Haji Ahmad Sait and Mariam Bhai in Mattanchery in 1930, Sulekha had written 35 novels and 108 short stories in Urdu. Her novels have found a good number of readers in Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Middle East and north Indian states. 'Mere Sanam', 'Rah Akeli' and 'Aapa' are among her famous works.
Sulekha is a recipient of awards instituted by various Urdu organisations in Pakistan and universities in India. She was living in Vaduthala in her last days.
