BHOPAL: A student of Gajra Raja Medical College and an agent of pre-medical admission scam were arrested on Tuesday.
Student Vikas Sainnai, who belongs to 2009 batch, paid Rs 3.5 lakh for the seat. He did not even appear for the entrance test. After securing admission through fraudulent means, till now he hasn't been able to even clear his first semester exams, police said.
Vikas, a resident of Barwani district was preparing for medical entrance tests at a coaching center in Indore, when he was contacted by one Vijay Narges over phone.
Narges promised him a medical seat without him having to sit in the test and demanded Rs 3.5 lakh.
Vikas said that he paid Rs 50,000 as advance and his original marksheets to Narges, who chose Satna as his examination center, police said. He said he never knew who took the entrance test on his behalf.
Narges took the remaining sum from him before the counselling and subsequently returned his original marksheets, said police.
Meanwhile, police arrested another agent of PMT admission fraud, Vinod Shakya, resident of Morena. A reward of Rs5000 was announced on Shakya's by police. Shakya is currently posted as medical officer in Shivpuri district. During police interrogation, he admitted taking Rs3 lakh each from two students, back in 2008 for securing their admission, said police.
