BANGALORE: In a further blow to beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines owned by Vijay Mallya, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday upheld the demand notice issued by the income tax department for payment of Rs 350 crore plus tax dues for the 2010-13 period.
The amount relates to tax deducted at source (TDS) by the company from its employees salaries, as well as payments made towards other expenses incurred by it.

A division bench comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice B Manohar dismissed the appeal by Kingfisher Airlines by observing that the company had not raised any objection with regards to not being provided an opportunity either before the assessing officer or the appellate authority. The bench further noted that Kingfisher Airlines had admitted the liabilities under TDS, and had only sought time to make the payment.
