Man strangles sister-in-law with phone charger

The incident was reported from Zeenat’s Keval Park home in Adarsh Nagar.

Police arrested a man who strangled his sister-in-law in a fit of rage in North Delhi on Tuesday morning. Police said the man, Vikas, got angry after Zeenat, who is married to his brother Ajeet, opposed to a relationship between Vikas and her sister Shabnam. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N Gnana Sambandan said, “Vikas has been arrested on charges of murder and investigation in the case is on.”

“Vikas (22) strangled Zeenat (25) around 11 am on Tuesday. The incident was reported from Zeenat’s Keval Park home in Adarsh Nagar. Vikas and Shabnam (28) had been living together in a rented accommodation in Azadpur. But Zeenat was not happy with the relationship and often rebuked Vikas for it. On Tuesday, when Vikas went to his brother’s house, Zeenat rebuked him again. In a fit of rage, he strangled her with the wire of a mobile phone charger,” a police officer said.

According to police, Vikas was a driver and often visited his brother Ajeet’s house to eat and bathe there. When Shabnam went to visit her sister at her Adarsh Nagar home a couple of months ago, Vikas fell in love with her.

However, police said, Zeenat and her family were against the relationship. Zeenat was especially unhappy about the two of them living together. Police said on Tuesday, when Vikas went to his brother’s house, Zeenat allegedly took a long time to open the door. When she did, she spoke to him rudely.

Angry, Vikas got hold of a mobile phone charger and strangled her. He then went to his brother Ajeet’s office in the private company in Liwaspur and handed over the keys to his house saying he had murdered Zeenat.

Festive offer

Police received a PCR call around 2 pm. Zeenat’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Ajeet has two daughters.
