Now, the film’s director, N Chandra, wants to bring back the memories the film continues to evoke. He is currently working on a sequel to Tezaab. Tentatively titled Tezaab 2, the sequel, says the director, will have an original storyline. “Tezaab reflected the life in those times. The new story is set in the present times,” he says. But Chandra adds that the angst in its lead characters will remain as that is one characteristic which today’s youths display as well.

Chandra, however, confesses that the film won’t repeat the popular pairing of Kapoor and Dixit. Instead, a cast of freshers has been selected through auditions. The lead actors, who have been signed on, are both from Delhi. Although Chandra refused to comment on the names, there is buzz that he has reached out to Dixit for a special appearance in a song, based on the chartbuster Ek do teen. The film’s shooting will begin in August.
