Srikakulam new Collector Gaurav Uppal on Monday directed the officials to give utmost importance to ‘Prajavani’ programme and speedily solve problems of people. He directed the officials to review petitions received at ‘Prajavani’ regularly so that the people need not come to the Collectorate to get their problems solved.

After taking charge at 8.20 a.m, he interacted with the people in the grievance cell. Intellectual forum representative G. Narsu Naidu urged the Collector to widen the road from Ramalakshmana Junction to Day and Night Junction to handle the extra traffic on the busy road. The route was congested throughout the day, leading to traffic jams at Rythu Bazaar Junction, Saraswati Mahal Junction and other places. Mr. Uppal directed the officials to study and submit a report over the issue.

Representatives of Muslim organisations urged the Collector to stop establishment of a liquor shop near Masjid in Kalinga Road. They alleged that the excise and municipal officials did not respond to their petition. Dharmavaram Panchayat member A. Kannappadu wanted release of water to tail-end areas from Narayanpur dam. Several officials including Additional Joint Collector MH Sharif, District Revenue Officer Nurbhasha Khasim and others joined Mr. Gaurav in listening to the grievances of people in the Collectorate.
