Sariwangi to see less tea production and sales this year

P

T Sariwangi A.E.A, producer of local tea Sariwangi, says that it projects to see declines in its tea production and sales this year due to extreme weather.

Sariwangi managing director Andrew T. Supit said that torrential downpours and strong winds have hit their tea producing areas badly.

"With this kind of weather, we are not going to see tea buds growing. This will impact our supply," Andrew was quoted as saying by kontan.co.id on Monday.

Sariwangi currently produces around 40,000 tons to 50,000 tons of tea annually. The firm also still imports some teas, such as green, from other countries.

Sariwangi tea is supplied by the firm's tea plantations, third parties and partnerships with local tea farmers.

Its own plantations are located in Sukabumi and Ciwidey, both in West Java, with a total area of 3,500 hectares. (nfo)
