Maid jumps to death from employer’s Wadala home

A24-year-old domestic help jumped to her death from her employer’s 17th floor apartment in Wadala on Sunday. The building’s security guards noticed the body and immediately informed the police.

The incident was reported around 3.30 pm from the Girnar Heights in Bhakti Park, Wadala. The deceased, Preeti Satram Singh, had been working for the Asrani family for the past 13 months.

Wadala TT police said the family had returned on Saturday from a week-long vacation in Bangkok. Asrani had pulled Preeti up for coming late and asked her to leave the job the same day.

NO NOTE FOUND

Senior inspector Suhas Garud said, “Asrani had asked Preeti to leave the job and take her belongings. Security guards of the building heard the sound of the body hitting the ground. The reason for the suicide is not clear. No note was found. It, however, was revealed that she was having an affair and had gone to Pune to meet that person. She was constantly in touch with him, so it’s necessary to record his statement as well.”

“The Asrani family was at home when the incident took place, but according to them, they came to know about it only after being informed by the guards. We searched the house gallery and other windows, but didn’t find her slippers or anything else. The body will be sent for postmortem on Monday,” added Garud. Meanwhile, cops said Preeti had attempted to commit suicide a year ago as well.

At the time, her mother had scolded her and she had slit her wrist in retaliation.
