Panel discussion
A panel discussion was organised jointly by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore’s (IIMB) consulting club, ICON, and McKinsey and Company on topics from the McKinsey and Company publication, ‘Reimagining India: Unlocking the Potential of Asia’s Next Superpower.’
The panellists included Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD of Biocon Ltd., Naveen Tewari, founder and CEO of Inmobi, Sushil Vachani, the new Director of IIMB, and Dipayan Sinha, winner of the Reimaging India student contest conducted by ICON at IIMB.
The topics covered extensively were education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and women’s workforce participation. However, the underlining theme was the role of technology in all these areas.
Mr. Tewari stressed that technology alone will be able to solve the problem of access of basic components of growth and development, including education and healthcare.
Ms. Shaw and Prof. Vachani promoted ‘disruptive’ solutions in these areas in the form of technology, without which India “would go the dinosaur way.”
