Police solves Sunitha murder, two arrested

Sunitha was strangled, her body mutilated, packed in bags and thrown into the Musi

Hyderabad: The police has solved the murder of Sunitha, 44, who was brutally murdered last month. The cops arrested Vijaya Reddy, a resident of Ramanthapur, and a former business partner of Sunitha’s husband Kotluri Krishna.

Due to differences the business partners had separated, but Vijaya decided to take revenge with the help of Jagannatha Naidu alias Jagan, a part-time writer at police stations.

Sunitha was strangled, her body mutilated, packed in bags and thrown into the Musi at Attapur.

Police said that Krishna, a resident of Bapunagar and Vijaya Reddy set up V.K. Drugs, a pharmaceutical company worth crores at Bibinagar. Krishna, Vijaya Reddy and Sunitha were the directors of the firm. Though everything was fine initially, differences cropped up later and they split.

Vijaya Reddy alleged that Krishna cheated her by fudging the firm’s accounts causing losses running into crores.

After the business failed Krishna went to Mumbai and started working. Vijaya decided to take revenge on Krishna by killing his daughter Shravani and roped in Jagan for that. However, when they could not get the girl, they decided to kill Sunitha.

Jagan gained Sun-itha’s confidence. On June 16, he called her, and invited her to his office at Attapur. “As she had gone out with him earlier for shopping she went in his car. He took her to his office attached to his house, where he gave her palm wine, and strangled her when she fell asleep," said Amberpet inspector P. Venkataramana.

Later, after informing Vijaya Reddy about the murder, he cut up the body, packed the pieces into bags and threw them into the Musi river at Attapur.
“Based on a missing complaint lodged by Krishna on June 18, we nabbed Jagan from the Sanathnagar police station. When interrogated, he spilled the beans and said Vijaya Reddy was the mastermind behind the murder,” Mr Venkataramana said.

Cops booked the duo for murder, destruction of evidence and others. They have been arrested and remanded.

Cops said that Jagan came into contact with Vijaya when he was working at the Kukatpally police station in 2011 when the latter came to lodge a complaint against Krishna. Both became close and during their conversations, Vijaya revealed the issue to Jagan, and sought his help.

Jagan, a law graduate was an intelligent criminal, and had tried hard to mislead the police in every possible way. He became close to Sunitha as a writer a couple of months ago, and never told her about his relationship with Vijaya Reddy.
