Nine persons were injured when the son of a former bureaucrat opened fire during a clash between villagers of Bari Colony and Romi in Hazaribag on Friday.

HAZARIBAG: Nine persons were injured when the son of a former bureaucrat opened fire during a clash between villagers of Bari Colony and Romi in Hazaribag on Friday.
Sanaul, son of former additional district magistrate Abdul Bari, fired a double-barrel gun from the roof of his house when angry mob attacked members of the colony over an alleged sexual harassment case, said police.

Hazaribag SDO Sadar Jugnu Minz said villagers of Romi had attacked a group of residents of Bari Colony with sticks around 8am on Friday. Later in the day, villagers of Romi ganged up to avenge the attack. So armed with lathis, they gheraoed three houses, including that of Sanaul's, in Bari Colony, police said. Two suspected terrorists were arrested from one of the houses in Bari Colony a couple of years ago.
When residents of Bari Colony found that they were outnumbered, they took shlter on the terrace of Sanaul's house from where the gun was fired. Hazaribag and Pelawal police reached on time and brought the situation under control.
SDO Minz said all the nine injured were admitted to Hazaribag Sadar Hospital from where two were referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi. The gun was seized. Police interrogation was on till the time of filing of this report.
The angry mob pointed out the three houses where the culprits were hiding and demanded that they be handed over to them(mob) so that they can teach them a lesson. however the police did not agree to the proposal and cordoned off the entire area and urged the mob to vacate the area so that police can conduct search operation by flushing out the miscreants who opened fire on them.
Ultimately villagers vacated the area and helped police in taking out the culprits by conducting search operation and asked the insiders to come out of their houses so that police can take them into custody, The SDO said when the insiders refused to open the door police broke open the doors where the culprits were hiding and took them to Pelawal thana and started interrogating them.
