NASHIK: State BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the party would start campaigning for the coming assembly elections in all constituencies within a fortnight after a meeting with party national president Amit Shah.
Fadnavis, who was in the city to attend the party's core committee meeting, said the BJP would to campaign in every assembly segment of the state.
Ministers from the Centre and other states would visit the segments to meet party workers and people to understand their issues, he added.
"We have decided to give the responsibility of every assembly constituency to a minister and make him responsible to reach the masses, the workers, understand their issues and resolve them. This is the only way that we can reach out to people. This will begin as soon as possible," Fadnavis said.
On Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's comment on social media that the charishma of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was weaning, Fadnavis said he (Thackeray) was a leader of another party and he had his views. "The tie-up between BJP and MNS is only limited to Nashik city. That doesn't mean we are allied. He can have his opinion and the state assembly elections will decide the fate of the comments," Fadnavis said.
Leader of Opposition in the state Legislative Council Vinod Tawde would lead a delegation of MPs from Nashik and north Maharashtra to Union finance minister Arun Jaitley soon to seek funds for Kumbh Mela and issues related in north Maharashtra. Tawde said that leaders of the party and MPs would meet the finance minister and stress for the central funds for the religious congregation on the lines of the similar corpus for the Kumbh mela in Allahabad.
"Since the budget session is yet to conclude and the House will discuss the Budget first, we think we still have a chance to draw some funds to Nashik for raising infrastructure," Tawde said. He also took a dig at the state government saying that it missed proper marketing of the Kumbh mela in the country in the manner done by the Uttar Pradesh government.
