Valletta continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season when they concluded a deal to sign highly-rated Cameroonian striker Raphael Kooh-Sohna.

The Malta champions had been in search of a prolific forward to bolster their attack after the departure of Brazilian Alan Da Silva Souza who had impressed during his short spell with the club.

Kooh-Sohna, who finished top scorer of Division One last season with 28 goals, had turned down Pietà Hotspurs’ offer to extend his contract as he was determined to continue his career overseas.

However, with the start of 2014-15 season fast approaching, Kooh-Sohna was tempted by the opportunity to play for Valletta who have signed the Cameroonian on a one-year deal.

Kooh-Sohna, voted best player of the Division One league for the past two seasons, could make his Valletta debut on Tuesday when Valletta face Qarabag, in the opening leg of their Champions League second qualifying round match at the National Stadium.

Kooh-Sohna becomes Valletta’s third foreign signing of the close season after the Whites acquired Portuguese midfielder Hugo Faria and Hamdan Al-Kamali, a UAE defender.

Meanwhile, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza has had a change of heart as he set to join Balzan on a season-long loan.

The former Birkirkara striker had looked set to move to Premier League newcomers Żebbuġ Rangers but the move hit a snag.

Balzan approached the Citizens with a view to taking Mifsud Triganza on loan and a deal was agreed yesterday.
