Bob Beckel’s Racial Slur on ‘The Five’ Triggers Internet Backlash (Video)

Talking about the Chinese on the Fox News program, Beckel uses derogatory term “Chinamen” before quickly amending it to “Chinese people”

On Fox News’ “The Five,” liberal co-host Bob Beckel was going into a rant about the threat he feels the Chinese people are to the United States. As he went into his argument, he dropped the derogatory word “Chinamen,” quickly amending it to “Chinese people.”

“The Chinese are the single biggest threat to the national security of the United States,” Beckel said. “You know what they just did? As usual, we bring them over here, and we teach a bunch of Chinamen — uh, Chinese people how to do computers. They go back to China and they hack into us.”

This isn’t the first time the Democratic analyst has left his co-hosts gasping at his comments, nor the first time he’s used the same derogatory term. In 2011, he was defending his use of the term “rednecks,” and did so by saying that “Chinamen” can be rednecks, too.

The Internet response was immediate, with Twitter blowing up in response to Beckel’s latest racial slur.
