New Bodo group lists charter of demands
Kokrajhar: All Assam Bodo People's Confederation (AABPC), a newly-floated platform for Bodos and other indigenous groups, has vowed to pragmatically tackle problems faced by the region's indigenous groups.
An ad-hoc committee of AABPC was formed in Guwahati on Sunday, with former Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary as chairman and former vice president of All Bodo Students' Union (Absu) Anil Basumatary as the chief convenor.
AABPC aims at uniting all the Bodo groups of the region to ensure the community's survival, security and progress in the age of globalization, liberalization and privatization. The new organization will be made fully-functional within the first week of August.
Bwiswmuthiary said the members will visit Delhi soon to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers and apprise them of the need for an amicable political solution to long-pending issues, including a separate state of Bodoland. Other issues include granting of autonomous councils to Bodo tribal people living outside BTC and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, inclusion of Boro Kacharis living in Karbi Anglong and NC Hills districts in the list of ST (Hills) as per the BTC accord signed in 2003.
