In Mumbai, BEST driver booked for crushing stray dog

MUMBAI: The MHB Colony police have booked a BEST bus driver, Arjun Kharat, for running over a stray dog, killing it, in Dahisar (W).
On July 3, a volunteer with Pawa India, an animal welfare group, saw the dead dog and informed another volunteer, Salim Charania, who then called the police.
Kharat was driving bus number 240. “He took a sharp left turn and did not notice the dog, which got crushed under the rear wheel of the bus and died on the spot.An FIR was registered against Kharat under IPC sections 279 and 428 for rash driving and killing an animal,” said Charania.
