Anti-dengue echo in Swat

SWAT - Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam Wazir has said that the multiplication of dengue virus can be prevented if every member of the society plays an active role while district administration is fighting against the dengue. He said this in a meeting held at the DC office here on Tuesday which was attended by officials of different departments. The DC said that district administration launched massive campaign against dengue and in this regard every concerned department is involved to defeat dengue while ladies health workers and supervisors of the district completed survey of more than 100,000 homes in different areas of the valley in which more than 400 dengue virus larwa was found and then it was vanished. Dengue virus larwa was mostly found in Rang Mohalla, Shahdara, Malookabad and Tahirabad Bunr areas of tehsil Babuzai of district Swat.
The DC Swat directed owners of hotels, industries, schools, banks, and government and private institutions to remove larva from their respective buildings, and present dengue clearance certificates before the administration within three days.
"The district administration would not tolerate any negligence in that regard. If any government department fails to present the certificate the district administration, stern action will be taken against the violators of the order," he added.
Later talking with The Nation, DC Swat Mahmood Aslam Wazir said that awareness is the key to fight dengue fever and media should play a positive role in the eradication of larva. "Without our joint efforts against the fever, we can never defeat it," the DC expressed. He further added that the people will have to change their habits and lifestyle to get rid of the deadly decease.
