A man named after “Scarface” actor Al Pacino was charged Monday in the 2013 murder of an Oakland man, police said.
Alpacino McDaniels — whose street name is Capone, after the Prohibition-era Chicago crime boss — was charged along with Charles Fuller in the death of Teric Traylor, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.
Fuller, 31, and Traylor, 23, were allegedly in a personal dispute when Fuller told McDaniels to shoot him. McDaniels, 29, shot Traylor, who collapsed and died on the streets of a West Oakland neighborhood on July 6, 2013.
Police said Fuller admitted to being in the fistfight but denied any involvement in the shooting. McDaniels denied any involvement, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
McDaniels is certainly living up to his gangster image, with four prior felony convictions for selling drugs and felony evading.
Both he and Fuller are scheduled to enter pleas July 14 in Alameda County Superior Court.
