The Prime Minister’s Home state: Bullet and more for Gujarat

Gujarat is not only at one end of the proposed bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai but also gets a number of other trains — a Jansadharan Express between Darbhanga and Ahmedabad via Surat, besides a weekly premium AC Express (Mumbai Central-New Delhi), and a weekly AC Express (Nizamuddin-Pune) both runing through the state.

Six other express trains will travel through Gujarat-Ahmedabad-Patna via Varanasi, Ahmedabad-Chennai via Vasai Road, Hapa-Bilaspur via Nagpur, Mumbai-Palitana, Rajkot-Rewa, and Bandra-Jaipur via Kota.

A project for gauge conversion from Ahmedabad to Mehsana will be taken up. The railways will also work in collaboration with Amul, besides National Dairy Development Board, to run special milk tanker trains. Among 10 locations for temperature-controlled vegetable storage, Vatva and Sanand have been identified.
