KANPUR: The day-long light drizzle on Sunday which gave a little respite to denizens from humidity and hot weather also created problems for commuters who have to be extra cautious in driving their vehicles on dug up roads which have not been levelled as yet.
Silt accumulated at roadsides after desilting of nullahs and culverts also added to the woes of the people.

Two wheeler riders and cyclists have to bear the maximum brunt of pot holed roads. Several persons riding two wheelers sustained injuries when their vehicles skidded on slippery and muddy roads.
The dug up and muddy roads besides posing danger to the people are also responsible for traffic jams at areas like GT Road, Rawatpur railway station, Kakadeo and near Gutaiyya crossing.
Similarly, the condition of roads is also very bad at Harbans Mohal, Shastri Nagar, Raipurwa,Fazalganj, Vijay Nagar ,Machharia, Damodar Nagar, Deputy ka Parao Dabouli and Yashoda Nagar where rainwater-filled pot holes pose danger for commuters. Water-logging at Govind Nagar, Mariyampur, EST Hospital, Pandunagar also compounded the problems of the residents of these localities.
The drizzle also exposed the tall claims of the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) authorities that the silt lying on roadsides after desilting of all main drains and nullahs of the city had been lifted.
Geeta Jaiwal, corporator of ward 55, alleged that proper desilting was not done in Kanpur South as most of the nullahs and drains could still be seen filled with silt and garbage.
